BAY CITY Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's golf team is second at the end of the opening round of the 2021 Watrous Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley State at The Saginaw Valley Public Golf Course in Bay City, Mich. The Lakers are in second after one round 286 (-2). Findlay leads at -4 (284) and Northern Michigan sits in third (287).
"It was a solid first day despite getting off to a rough start," said head coach
Gary Bissell. " We are looking forward to playing a better game tomorrow."
Charles DeLong is currently tied for fifth at the midway point on the invitational at -2 (70) after 18-holes. DeLong started the day carding two birdies in the the front nine and notched one birdie on the back nine.
Drew Coble ends the day tied for 10
th at 71 (-1), followed by
Nick Krueger at 72 (E). Rounding out the Lakers' score is
Alex Jordan (73).
Cooper Bell ended the day at +2 (74).
The final 18-hole round of the Watrous Invitational begins Sunday, Sept. 12 at 8:00 a.m.
