INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 13 Grand Valley State Laker softball team has been selected as the top seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional tournament, as announced by the NCAA Sunday (May 16) evening. The Lakers will play host to the six-team field for a four-day, double-elimination tournament beginning Wednesday, May 19, at the GVSU Softball Field.
The Lakers and two-seeded Indianapolis Greyhounds will have byes through the first day of the tournament and the Lakers will face the winner of Wednesday's four-seed and five-seed matchup on Thursday, May 20, at 11:00 AM. The Midwest region field is as follows:
- Grand Valley State
- Indianapolis
- Northwood
- Trevecca Nazarene
- Hillsdale
- Ohio Dominican
The Lakers have won 12 straight games entering the NCAA Tournament and are GLIAC regular season and tournament champions. The winner of the six-team regional bracket will advance to the College World Series in Denver, Colorado.
