Dorr Tosses No-Hitter as Lakers Sweep Parkside

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team swept Parkside Sunday (Apr. 19) afternoon behind Karli Dorr's no-hitter in game one and a walk off in game two. The Lakers improve to 22-20 on the season and 12-8 in the GLIAC after winning game one 6-0 and game two 1-0.
 
Game One – W, 6-0
Karli Dorr tossed her first collegiate no-hitter in game one. Dorr struck out seven batters and allowed just three walks in seven innings pitched. GVSU got on the scoreboard in the third inning, scoring four runs off five hits. Eliana Eiland put the Lakers in front with an RBI single to center field to score Brynn Taliercio. Next batter, Elizabeth Wesoloski reached base with a bunt single that scored Camryn Hall. Two batters later, Kylee Hoebeke singled on a bunt to bring home Eiland. Faith Edwards also would single on a bunt that allowed Wesoloski to score. 
 
GVSU would add a run in the fourth off a Parkside error that allowed Hall to score from second base to make it 5-0. The Lakers would increase the lead to 6-0 in the sixth inning on an Eiland sacrifice fly to center field to score Taliercio. Hall bated 2-3 with two runs scored while Eiland notched a hit, drove in two runs, and scored one run. Taliercio recorded a hit and scored two runs, while Wesoloski added a run scored and one RBI. 
 
Game Two – W, 1-0 (8-Innings)
Both teams were held scoreless through all seven innings. In the eighth inning, Kylee Hoebeke led the inning with a walk. Grace Usher moved Hoebeke to second with a sacrifice bunt. Two batters later with two outs, MaryJane Goodman hit a ball with spin to second base that got past the Parkside second baseman to allow Hoebeke to score from second for the walk off win. 
 
Kylie Swierkos got the start in game two and tossed all eight innings allowing no runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Camryn Hall went 2-3 at the plate with a walk. Grace Usher and Allyson Theunick each added a hit.
