Lakers conclude regular season action on Saturday

GVSU hosts DII Outdoor National Championships for first time since 2015 season

The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field teams concluded the final weekend of the regular season with meets at Hillsdale, Lee and Toledo.  GVSU takes next weekend off before hosting the NCAA DII Outdoor National Championships on May 27-29. 
 
Hillsdale Last Chance
Hitting some of the Lakers' top marks at Thursday's meet were Carly Livingston (3.91m; pole vault), Emma Richards (49.05m; discus), Makiyah Smallwood (14.43; 110H) and Angelica Floyd (11.68; 100m). 
 
Lee Last Chance
Hannah Roeske finished runner-up in the 1,500m with the program's second-best time of 4:21.84, while Natalie Graber posted the ninth-best program 3,000m steeplechase time of 10:42.44.  On the men's side, freshman Scott Spaanstra met a personal best in the 800m with a third-place finish of 1:49.19.  Caleb Futter (8:44.38) and Connor Schwartz (8:54.85) rewrote the 3,000m steeplechase record book with the new top-two times.  In the 5,000m, Brendan Parr earned a third-place time of 14:15.33, while Andrew Hylen (5th; 29:54.74)Colin Herrmann (7th; 30:15.43) competed in the 10,000m. 
 
Toledo Rocket Invitational
On the track, Smallwood (14.48; 110H) and Floyd (11.80; 100m) swept their respective events.  Antonio Passarelli finished posted a runner-up time of 10.86 seconds in the 100m dash, while Asia Smith crossed the 200m line in 27.30 seconds.  In the field, Justin Scavarda finished second in the shot put (17.33m) and discus throw (51.26m) while Hunter Harding (4th; 59.47m) and Judith Essemiah (3rd; 61.26m) competed in the men's and women's hammer throw.
