ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 8 Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team hosts crosstown rival, Davenport, in a Saturday afternoon draw. Both teams post a perfect record in conference play, with the each team honing two GLIAC wins.
GVSU has defeated four of its six opponents by at least 14 goals or more and have held those opponents to net the ball four times or fewer in each game. After opening GLIAC play in dominant fashion over Concordia-St. Paul (21-2; 18-2),
Maddy Champagne and
Payton Neil collected GLIAC Player of the Week accolades, marking GVSU's appearance in the weekly honors four out of five times this season.
Both teams boast a high-scoring offense, with the Lakers averaging 16.50 goals per game and the Panthers posting a 17.67 goals per game mark. The second through fifth leading conference scorers will face off in Champagne (24) and Davenport's Aaliyah Miller (23), Anna Glynn (21) and Ryann Deuel (20). The Laker defense (71) outnumbers the Panthers' squad (53) having caused 18 more turnovers through six games apiece.
Before the noon draw, five Lakers will be recognized for Senior Day.
