Laker Men's Golf Closes Opening Round Of Music City Invitational

The Grand Valley State men's golf team is fourth (294) after the opening round of the 2021 Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene  at Hermitage Golf Course in Nashville, Tenn. The second and final round will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday (Mar. 16) with a shotgun start. Northwood is first with a 287 (-1), followed by Trevecca Nazarene (290) and Ashland (291). 

The Lakers played in cool temperatures and light rain for the entire round, but that did not stop freshman Drew Coble from a fast start. Coble notched a par on his first hole, followed by a hole-in-one on a the par 3, 211-yard fifth hole. Coble then went birdie-birdie-birdie and was -5 after six holes on the front nine. He finished his opening 18 with a 71 (-1) and is tied seventh. Freshman Nick Krueger is tied for 12th after carding an even par 72, while junior Eric Nunn shot a 75 (+3) and is tied for 31st. Freshman Charles DeLong is tied for 44th after an opening-round 76 (+4) and freshman Alex Jordan shot a first-round 80 (+8).
