THE GAME
Grand Valley State will host Davenport in the Crosstown Showdown Saturday (Nov. 13) at Lubbers Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Grand Valley State will honor its 10 seniors prior to kickoff. GVSU is ranked third in the latest NCAA DII Super Region 3 rankings and if the Lakers can remain in the top four they would host an NCAA DII First-Round game on November 20 versus an opponent to be determined.Â
THE SERIES
Grand Valley State leads the all-time series with Davenport by a 3-0 margin. GVSU won the most recent meeting in a monsoon in 2019 by a 27-7 score. The Lakers claimed a 19-14 in 2018 at Davenport and won the first meeting between the programs in Allendale (2017) by a 48-0 score.Â
LAST WEEK
#7 Grand Valley State scored 27 points in the second quarter and led 34-13 at the half. The Lakers outscored the Warriors 28-0 in the second half and claimed a 62-13 victory. The 62 points is the most scored by GVSU at Wayne State. The Laker defense limited WSU to 245 yards of total offense. LB

• The Laker defense ranks third in the GLIAC and ranks 19th nationally in total defense per game 279.4.Â
• GVSU ranks second in the GLIAC and 32nd nationally in total offense, averaging 430.6 yards per game.Â

• The Lakers lead the GLIAC and rank 24th nationally in rushing defense per game (100.4 ypg). The GVSU defense has yielded just four rushing TDs in nine games and  opponents have rushed for 904 yards.
 • The GVSU defense has forced its opponents into 36 three-and-out possessions and 69-of-80 total possessions that have not resulted in points have consisted of six plays or less. 41 drives have consisted of 10 yards or less.Â
• 17 different Laker receivers have caught a pass, while 10 different players have caught a TD pass.
• GVSU rushed for 640 yards and 10 TDs versus UW-La Crosse and Michigan Tech. The Lakers rushed for 320 yards and four TDs vs. UWC, followed by a 320-yard, six-TD rushing game at MTU.Â
• The Lakers are yielding 100.4 yards per game rushing, 3.0 yards per carry and opponents have four rushing TDs in nine games. The Laker defense limited CSU-Pueblo to 29 rushing yards on 20 attempts (1.5 ypr), Michigan Tech to 82 yards on 31 carries (2.6 ypc), Northwood to 95 yards on 34 carries and Michigan Tech in game two to 94 yards on 29 carries.Â
