DEARBORN, Mich. -
Charles DeLong closes out the Fall portion of the season in first place at the Motor City Invite in Dearborn, Mich. carding nine-under par (135). DeLong notched 11 birdies throughout the 36-hole tournament scoring three strokes under second place Simon Estrada from Georgia Southwestern (-6). DeLong has won two-tournament this Fall, with his first win at the Arendsen Invitational on Sept. 6, carding six-under par (207).Â
"DeLong is working his way into being a great player," said head coach
Gary Bissell. "We have to continue building some depth around him moving forward."Â
The team finished seventh overall carding 13-over par (589).Â
Nick Krueger shot four birdies in the second round placing him at T-22 and ending the day carding one-over par (145). Adding to the teams' score,
Drew Coble shot an eagle in the second round on a par 5 519-yard hole placing him tied for 53rd carding 11-over par (155) and
Eric Nunn with 12-over par (156).
Alex Jordan finished tied for 70th carding 15-over par (159). Competing individually,
Braden Falk placed T-73 scoring 18-over par (162).Â
The Grand Valley State men's golf team will return in the Spring to compete in their Championship portion of the season, with the GLIAC Championships taking place in Augusta, Mich. at the Stoatin Brae GC on April 15-17. The National Championships will take place on May 16-19 at the TPC Michigan Golf Course in Dearborn, Mich.Â
