Dominique Hamman Hired as new Assistant Coach for Goalkeepers

Lacrosse adds Hamman to Coaching Staff

09.04.2019

Grand Valley State lacrosse head coach MacKenzie Lawler announced the hire of Dominique Hamman as the graduate assistant coach for goalkeepers.  Hamman joins the Lakers from Central Michigan where she competed as a goalkeeper for four years.

Aside from playing, Hamman held coaching stints as an assistant goalie coach for Lady Roc Lacrosse in New York during the summers of 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Coach Lawler was an assistant coach at Central Michigan during Hamman's first three years with the program.  Additionally, Hamman joined Lawler as a goalie coach for Michigan Elite Lacrosse Club in the summer of 2019.

"I couldn't be more excited about adding Dominique to our staff," coach Lawler said.  "Dominique's personal experience as a NCAA DI goalkeeper will be a great asset as she takes the lead coaching our goalies.  I had the opportunity to coach Dominique for three years while I was an assistant coach at Central Michigan so I know that we are not only bringing a great coach on staff, but also a high character person and role model for our student-athletes."

During her final season at Central Michigan, Hamman played in 15 games, making 11 starts and compiling a .461 save percentage.  Hamman posted a career high 120 saves and was named to the All-Southern Conference Second Team in 2018.

"I'm very excited to start my coaching career at Grand Valley and am grateful to MacKenzie for giving me this opportunity," Hamman said.  "The high level of athletic excellence maintained and expected from the student-athletes at this university excites me and I cannot wait to get started."

The Central Michigan graduate earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics with a minor in athletic training.
