The Grand Valley State men's tennis team fell to Wayne State, 6-1, at home on Saturday (April 6). The Lakers drop to 14-6 overall and are now 4-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Warriors improve to 14-1 on the season and 4-0 in the league.

The match started in doubles as Wayne State scored the first point with wins from No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Lakers did however win from the No. 3 pairing after
Jack Dausman and
Nicholas Urban won 7-5(5).

In singles, GVSU could not find its groove as they dropped five out of the six matches.
Martin Matov scored the only team point for the Lakers as he won in three sets from the No. 4 position by a score of 6-7(3), 7-5, 10-6. Playing from the No. 1 position was
Sebastien Lescoulie, who fell 3-6, 6-3, 8-10, while
Jack Geissler fought hard from the No. 2 slot but was defeated 6-4, 6-2. Playing out of the No. 3 singles position was Dausman who fell 4-6, 6-4, 6-10. Wayne State scored two more points on the afternoon after Urban (No, 5; 6-4, 6-4) and
Eric Zwemer (No. 6; 6-2, 6-3) were both defeated.

Grand Valley State's final home match of the 2019 season will be next weekend when they welcome Purdue Northwest on Sunday, April 14.
