The Grand Valley State men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 7-0Â win over Purdue Northwest in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic play on Sunday (April 14) afternoon. The Lakers end the regular season with a 16-6 overall record and 6-2 in league play, and also recorded their fifth shutout win this season. WIth the loss today, the Pride fall to 4-11 on the season and 1-7 in the GLIAC.

The Lakers started off strong with a sweep in doubles as
Sebastien Lescoulie and
Martin Matov captured a 6-1, win from No. 1 doubles, while
Jack Geissler and
DJ Colantone claimed a 6-4 victory from the No. 2 spot. The No. 3 duo of
Nicholas Urban and
Jack Dausman also won 6-2.

GVSU continued its strong play into singles as they swept the Pride. Playing from No. 1 singles was Lescoulie, who won in three sets by a score of 6-4, 2-6 6-3, while Geissler captured a 6-4, 6-4, win from the No. 2 spot. Dausman won in straight sets from the No. 3 position, 6-0, 6-0, as Matov tallied a 6-2, 6-2 victory from No. 4 singles. The Lakers completed the sweep after Urban played out of the No. 5 slot and won 6-1, 6-1, while
Eric Zwemer captured a 6-3, 6-1, win from No. 6 singles.

Grand Valley State's next match will be in the GLIAC Tennis Tournament, which will take play in Midland, Mich. from April 26-28 at the Greater Midland Community Tennis Center.
