The Grand Valley State men's tennis team defeated Hillsdale, 5-2, at the Grandville Premier Athletic and Tennis Club on Thursday (March 28) afternoon. The Lakes improve to 11-5 on the season, while the Chargers fall to 10-5.

GVSU captured the first point of the match from doubles, with wins from No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Jack Geissler and
Martin Matov paired up at No. 2 doubles and won 6-2, as
Nicholas Urban and
Jack Dausman also captured a 6-2 victory from the No. 3 spot. Hillsdale won at No. 1 doubles after
DJ Colantone and
Sebastien Lescoulie dropped a 6-4 decision.

The Lakers battled hard in singles as they took four out of six matches. Lescoulie won from No. 1 singles in three sets, after he dropped the first set 2-6, before winning the next two 6-2, 6-4, while Geissler tallied a 7-5, 6-1 win from the No. 2 spot. Dausman fell from No. 3 singles 6-4, 7-5, while Matov captured the Lakers fourth point as he won 7-6 (4), 6-4, from the No. 4 slot. Playing from the No. 5 spot was Urban, who won in three sets by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 10-8. The Chargers scored one more point after
Eric Zwemer fell in three sets by a score of 6-7 (2), 6-4, 8-10.

Grand Valley State will continue play this weekend as they travel to Northwood on Saturday (March 30), before returning home on Sunday (March 31) for a match against Ferris State.
