The Grand Valley State women's tennis team defeated Indiana Tech, 7-0, on Saturday (Feb. 16) at the Premier Athletic & Tennis Club in Grandville, Mich. The Lakers improve to 12-2 on the season, while the Warriors are now 1-5 on the season.

The Lakers got off to a hot start in doubles as they swept the Warriors to take the point.
Madison Ballard and
Marija Leko paired up at the No. 1 position and won 6-1, while
Marily Canellopoulos and
Vera Griva captured a 6-1 victory from the No. 2 position.
Nicole Heiniger and
Livia Christman capped off the sweep in the doubles after they won 6-0 from No. 3 doubles.

The Lakers strong play carried over to singles, as thy won all six matches. Playing out of the No. 1 slot was Ballard, who won 6-3, 6-3, while Griva tallied a 6-3, 6-3 win from No. 2 singles. Leko battled from the No. 3 slot and won 6-1, 7-5, while Canellopoulos won 6-0, 6-3 from No. 4 singles. The Lakers received scored two more points during the match after
Liv Hanover won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 from the No. 5 slot and
Katarina Samardzija also won 6-0, 6-0, from the No. 6 singles position.

Grand Valley State's final home match of the 2018-19 season will be Sunday (Feb. 24) at 5:30 p.m. when they host Walsh at the Premier Atheltic & Tennis Club in Grandville. The Lakers will also honor their five seniors as well.
