The Grand Valley State men's tennis team defeated Indiana Tech, 6-1, on Saturday (Feb. 16) at the Premier Athletic & Tennis Club in Grandville, Mich. The Lakers improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Warriors now hold a 3-5 record this season.

The Lakers scored first after they swept the Warriors in doubles play.
Sebastien Lescoulie and
DJ Colantone captured a 6-2 win from the No. 1 pairing, while
Jack Geissler and
Martin Matov won 6-3 from the No. 2 position. The Lakers completed the sweep after
Nicholas Urban and
Jack Dausman won 6-4 from the No. 3 doubles position.

In singles, Grand Valley State was able to take five out of the six matches. Playing from No. 1 singles was Lescoulie, who won 6-0, 7-5, while Geissler won 6-0, 6-2. The Warriors here able to score a point after they won from the No. 3 position after Dausman, fell in three sets by a score of 7-6(4), 3-6, 2-6. Matov won from the No. 4 slot in three sets. Matov fell in the first set 2-6, and then won the next two sets 6-1, 10-2. The Lakers scored two more points after Colantone and Urban won from the No. 5 and No. 6 singles position. Colantone won 6-1, 6-1, while Urban also captured a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Grand Valley State will hit the road next week as they travel to Southfield, Mich. to take on Lawrence Tech on Saturday (Feb. 23) before returning home on Sunday (Feb. 24) for an in-region match against Walsh at the Premier Athletic & Tennis Club in Grandville, Mich.
