WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Grand Valley State men's and women's cross country teams placed first in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships for the 18
th and 19
th consecutive times in program history. The men handled the competition with 44 points while the women tallied just 17 points to easily secure first place.
Women's 6K
Allie Ludge led the competition from the gunshot. The GVSU senior crossed the finish line in 21:23.6 with three Lakers closely following her strides.
Hanna Groeber (2
nd; 21:29.6),
Klaudia O'Malley (3
rd; 21:36.7) and
Madison Goen (4
th; 21:37.9) finished one after the other.
Also finishing in the top-10 was
Jessica Gockley (7
th; 21: 45.5) and
Natalie Graber (10
th; 21:55.5). Rounding out the Laker scoring was
Lucy Karpukhno with a time of 22:01.6 good for sixth place.
Earning All-GLIAC First Team honors were Ludge (MVP), Grober, O'Malley (Freshman of the Year), Goen and Gockley. Karpukhno was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team.
Men's 8K
Tanner Chada broke 24 minutes for the best time of his career as he took first place in 23:55.7. Junior
Dennis Mbuta placed seventh with a time of 24:35.4, with
Ben Zaremba trailing him a few seconds later to finish 11
th in 24:37.9.
Noah Steffen (12
th; 24:37.9),
Colin Herrmann (13
th; 24:40.6),
Jesse Becker (14
th; 24:44.4) and
Andrew Hylen (15
th; 24:52.2) concluded GVSU scoring as a pack.
Chada (MVP) and Mbuta earned All-GLIAC First Team honors while Zaremba, Steffen, Herrmann, Becker and Hylen (Freshman of the Year) collected All-GLIAC Second Team honors.

GVSU will take a week off before competing in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regionals in Evansville, Ind. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
