Grand Valley State is third at the Davenport Panther Invitational being held at the Stoatin Brae Golf Club in Augusta, Mich. with an opening round 283 (-1). Ashland, which shot a school-record 273 (-11) is first, followed by Wayne State in second after carding a 280 (-4). The second and final round will be played Sunday (Oct. 20). 

Charles DeLong is third overall after carding an opening round 68 (-3), while Drew Coble is tied for fourth after shooting a 69 (-2). Nick Krueger tallied a 72 (+1) and is 15th, Eric Nunn is 23rd after shooting a 74 (+3) and Matt Orwig is 29th after carding a 75 (+4). Alex Jordan, who is playing as an individual, shot a 75 (+4) and is 29th.
