The Grand Valley State men's tennis team competed in the ITA Regional tournament this weekend (Sept. 28-30). This is the team's third and final match this fall.
In the singles A competition,
Jack Dausman led the Lakers with two wins and one loss (6-3, 1-6, 10-3; 6-2, 6-2; 0-4, 4-6).
Martin Matov (6-4, 6-1; 0-5, 3-6; 4-6, 4-6) recorded one win and two losses while
Jack Geissler (6-2, 5-0; 2-6, 6-7) won one match and dropped one.
Kushan Shah competed in and lost one match, 4-6, 3-6.
Ignacio Morera-Lucas led the Lakers in the singles B competition as he posted a 3-1 record before losing to his opponent in the quarterfinals, 3-6, 1-6.
DJ Colantone (6-3, 6-0; 6-2, 2-6, 7-10) and
Sean Miller (6-0, 6-1; 6-1, 4-6, 4-10) both recorded one win and one loss on the weekend.
Matov and Dausman competed in the doubles A competition where they finished with one win and one loss (8-4; 4-8).
In the doubles B competition, Geissler and Colantone teamed up for a two and one record after one loss in the quarterfinals (8-6; default; 0-2).
Eric Zwemer and
Ryan Rhoades (8-3; 9-7; 5-8) and Shah and Miller (9-7; 8-2; 11-13) also compiled a two and one doubles record, losing only in the quarterfinals.
Alex Lescoulie and Morera-Lucas posted one win and one loss in doubles play (8-1; 5-8).
The team will return to match play in the spring.
