Final Results
The Grand Valley State men's tennis completed its final day of play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Sunday (Sept. 30), and saw
Sebastien Lescoulie play in the A Singles bracket semifinals, whileÂ
DJ Colantone and
Nicholas Urban advanced to the B Doubles championship match. The Lakers will now be off from competition as they will prepare for the 2019 season with their first match being at home on February 3, 2019 when they host Indianapolis.
In the A Singles bracket,
Sebastien Lescoulie who was the No. 3 seed faced the No. 1 seed Nils Hoffacher from Indianapolis in the semifinals, as Lescoulie put up a good fight but fell to Hoffacher in three sets. Lescoulie dropped the first set by a score of 6-3, before winning the second set 6-3. Lescoulie fought hard but fell in the tiebreaker by a score of 10-7.
In the B Doubles bracket,
DJ Colantone and
Nicholas Urban advanced to the championship match and faced Karl Heinrichs and Adrian Lessing from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Colantone and Urban fought hard but fell in a close 8-6 decision.
In addition, Lescoulie was the only player from the GLIAC that advanced to semifinals in the A Singles bracket, while Colantone and Urban were one of two doubles teams from the GLIAC that advanced to the semifinals in the B Doubles bracket.Â
