The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has recognized Grand Valley State men's and women's tennis teams as ITA All-Academic teams, along with eight Lakers that earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the 2017-18 academic year. There were 735 teams across Division I, II, III, NAIA and JUCO teams that qualified for this honor with an overall team GPA of 3.20 or above and 4,328 student-athletes across the five divisions that received ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

The eight Lakers that earned ITA Scholar-Athlete award carried a GPA of at least 3.50 or above. Other qualifications for the honor included being a varsity letter winner and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

The men's team had five Lakers earn the status, while three Lakers from the women's team were recognized.
