GVSU defeats Wilmington, 5-0, Sunday

The No. 22 Grand Valley State women's tennis won its fifth consecutive match and improved to 22-3 on the season, after they defeated Wilmington University, 5-0, in a neutral site game in Stow, Ohio on Sunday afternoon. 

GVSU started the day off strong and led, 3-0, after they swept the Wildcats in doubles competition. The duo of Abby Perkins and Livia Christman tallied an 8-0 win from No. 3 doubles, while Madison Ballard and Nicole Heiniger won, 8-3, from the No. 2 doubles position. Aimee Moccia and Alexa Sweeney completed the sweep for the Lakers after the pair won 8-4 from the No. 1 position.

The Lakers would earn their fourth point of the contest by default at No. 2 singles before capturing the match at No. 4 singles, after Olivia Hanover won 6-3, 6-4.

Grand Valley State will travel to Marion, Indiana for another neutral site against Northwestern Ohio on Friday, April 14, then after will compete in the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan on the same day.
