The Grand Valley State men's tennis team defeated Tiffin, 5-1, in a fifth place match during the 2018 GLIAC Men's Tennis Tournament on Saturday, April 21.
The Lakers started off strong in doubles play, as the duo of
Drew Coleman and
Sebastien Lescoulie won 8-1, out of the No. 1 doubles position, while
DJ Colantone
and Jack Geissler claimed another 8-1 win from the No. 2 slot. Playing from the No.3 pairing was Eric Zwemer and Nicholas Urban as they captured another point for GVSU, after they won 8-0. |
In singles competition, Lescoulie won 6-4, 7-5, from the No. 1 position, while Zwemer won 6-4, 6-3 from the No. 6 singles position to give the Lakers their fifth point of the match. Tiffin captured its only point during the match, Colantone dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision from the No. 3 spot.
The Grand Valley State men's tennis team ends the regular season with a record of 15-8 (5-3 GLIAC) and will have to wait to see if they advance to the NCAA Regionals next weekend, as the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Selection Shows will air, Tuesday, April 24th, at 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. ETS on NCAA.com.
