The Grand Valley State men's tennis team traveled to Hillsdale College with a four match winning streak and defeated Hillsdale, 6-3, in a non-conference matchup on Friday evening. The Lakers are now 5-1 overall on the season, while the Chargers drop to 3-4 on the season.

Grand Valley State started the match with doubles play and swept Hillsdale in all three matches.
Sebastien Lescoulie paired up with
Alex van de Steenoven and won from the No. 1 doubles position 8-2, while
Jack Geissler and
DJ Colantone won from the No. 2 pairing, 8-4.
Nicholas Urban and
Eric Zwemer completed the sweep for the Lakers in doubles, after they won 8-6 in a hard fought match from the No. 3 doubles spot.

The Lakers added to their lead in singles competition after
Sebastien Lescoulie and
Jack Geissler won their matches from the No. 1 and No. 2 singles position. Lescoulie defeated Milan Mirkovic 6-4, 6-3, while Geissler tallied a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Charlie Adams.
Alex van de Steenoven fell in a tough 3-0 match from No. 3 singles, while
Nicholas Urban added another point for GVSU over John Ciraci by a score of 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-1. The Chargers gained two points from the No. 5 and No. 6 positions to close the gap on the Lakers.
DJ Colantone fought hard in a three set battle at the No. 5 single spot with Dugan Delp, but fell by a score of 6-2, 4-6, 4-6.
Eric Zwemer also contested hard at No. 6 singles, but was defeated in two sets by scores of 4-6, 6-7 (2-7).

The Lakers will be on the road for the next week, as they head down to Florida for their spring tournament, and will be back in Michigan on Wednesday, March 21, when they host Aquinas College at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
