The Grand Valley State men's tennis team improves to 3-1 on the season, after they beat Walsh, 7-2, on Sunday evening. The Lakers have won their third consecutive match this season.
GVSU would start the night off with three wins in doubles actions with the duo of
Sebastien Lescoulie and
Alex van de Steenoven. The pair played from the No. 1 doubles and won, 8-4. From the No. 2 doubles position,
DJ Colantone and
Jack Geissler tabbed another point of the Lakers after they won 8-2, while
Drew Coleman and
Nicholas Urban were able to give the Lakers the sweep in doubles play, after they won from the No. 3 pairing by a score of 8-0.
The success continued for GVSU in singles actions, as
Sebastien Lescoulie earned a victory at the No. 1 singles slot, by a score of, 6-2, 6-4. Geissler tabbed another point for Grand Valley State, as he won 6-1, 6-3, from the No. 2 singles, while Urban fought hard at the No. 3 position and won, 6-4, 6-4. Colantone claimed the Lakers seventh point of the night, after he won 6-2, 6-3, from the No. 4 singles spot.
Eric Zwemer and
Marcus Muniz Infante battled hard from the No. 5 and No. 6 position, but both Lakers would fall in tough matches by scores of, 3-6, 6-3, 6-10, and 3-6, 1-6.
The Laker next match will be Friday (Feb. 23) when they host Southern Indiana.
