GVSU Men's Tennis Sweeps Cornerstone, 9-0

Results

The Grand Valley State men's tennis team improved to 1-1 on the season, after they defeated Cornerstone, 9-0, on Friday (Feb. 9) evening. The Lakers' next match will be away at Hope College on Saturday (Feb. 17). 

The Lakers started off strong in doubles play as Alex van de Steenoven and Sebastien Lescoulie won 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles pairing. DJ Colantone and Jack Geissler played at No. 2 doubles and tabbed an 8-1 victory, while Drew Coleman and Nicholas Urban dominated at the No. 3 position and won 8-0.

Grand Valley State continued to win in singles as action, as Sebastien Lescoulie won 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 position, while Geissler also played well at the No. 2 spot and won 6-1, 6-2. Alex van de Steenoven continued to add points to the Lakers' lead, as he claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. Urban and Colantone won their matchups at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, with scores of 6-1, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-2. Coleman tallied the Lakers ninth point of the dual match, and won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
