MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team dropped their GLIAC Tournament semifinal match to Northwood by a score of 5-0. The loss drops the Lakers to 18-7 on the year and puts them in the third place match against Hillsdale on Sunday, April 23 at 8:15 am.
Northwood was able to take an early 3-0 lead in the first to five match as they swept doubles play. The duo of
Zach Phillips and Alex Van de Steenoven dropped their No. 1 doubles match in close 8-5 decision to Austin Woody and David Reinauer. Also dropping their match 8-5 was the pairing of Sebastian Lescoulie and
Jack Heiniger as they fell to Kobus and Francois Sauerman.Â
In singles play, the first two matches to finish fell in favor of the Timberwolves and stopped any comeback hopes for the Lakers. Van de Steenoven fell in the No. 4 singles spot by a score of 6-2, 6-1 to Reinauer while
Nicholas Urban fell to Ivan Medvynskyi by a 6-2, 6-2 score.
