SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - #36 Grand Valley State defeated Lake Superior State on Sunday, April 2nd by a score of 8-1. With the victory, the Lakers improve to 14-6 and 4-1 in the GLIAC.
In doubles play, GVSU was able to get victories in the Nos. 2 and 3 positions. The duo of Sebastian Lescoulie and
Jack Heiniger were able to defeat Joseph Gilman and Ieuan Lister of LSSU by a score of 8-6. Earning the other Laker victory was
Nicholas Urban and
Jack Geissler who took down Hunter Koster and Miles Munro by an 8-6 margin as well.Â
Lescoulie was also able to win his singles matchup against Jake Prime by a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 score out of the No. 1 singles spot.
Zach Phillips was matched up against Luis Valderrama in the No. 2 spot and was able to secure a 6-1, 6-3 victory for the Lakers. Playing out of the No. 3 singles spot was Geissler who defeated Gilman by a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 score. Also winning their singles matches were Alex Van de Steenoven (6-1, 6-2), Heiniger (6-0, 6-2), and Urban (7-5, 6-0).Â
The Lakers will return to Allendale on Saturday, April 8 as they take on the Warriors of Wayne State at 10 AM.Â
