Lakers Fall To Ferris State

ALLENDALE, Mich. - #36 Grand Valley State fell to GLIAC foe Ferris State (#15) on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 8-1 in Allendale, Mich. The loss drops the Lakers to 12-6 on the season and 2-1 in GLIAC play.

After only being able to take one out of the three doubles matches to start off the competition, the Lakers wouldn't be able to find their groove, as they would drop all six singles matches.

Earning the sole win on the day for the Lakers was the duo of sophomore Nicholas Urban and freshman Jack Geissler. They defeated Daniil Tarantinov and Robert Camplin in the No. 3 doubles position by a score of 8-3.

In singles play there were a few close matches throughout the afternoon. Senior Zach Phillips put up a tough fight against Vasil Surduk in the No. 2 spot but eventually fell 7-5, 6-4. Out of the No. 1 spot was Sebastian Lescoulie and Till von Winning who had a very close 7-5 first set before von Winning took over to secure the victory with a 6-1 second set score. Senior Jack Heiniger played also close sets with Tarantinov before he eventually fell by a score of 6-4, 6-3.

Grand Valley State will look to add to their win column on Saturday, April 1 as they travel to the U.P. to face the Huskies of Michigan Tech.
