GRANDVILLE, Mich. -- The Grand Valley State men's tennis team completed their weekend sweep of GLIAC opponents while improving to 5-0 on the season in a 8-1 victory over Findlay on Sunday night at the Premier Athletic Club in Grandville, Mich.
The Lakers were able to win two of three doubles matches on Sunday with
Alex van de Steenoven and
Jack Heiniger taking the No. 2 doubles win over Ivaylo Slavov and Nick Kopylec 8-2.
Nicholas Urban and
Jack Geissler took down Sherwin Miranda and Trevor Majdalani of Findlay by a score of 8-1.Â
In singles, GVSU was led by Geissler's 6-0, 6-0 win over Findlay's Kopylec in No. 3 singles.
Alex van de Steenoven took a big win over Majdalani of Findlay in No. 4 singles at 6-1, 6-0. Heiniger took home a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Slavov of Findlay in No. 5 singles, while Urban defeated Findlay's Miranda 6-2, 6-1 in No. 6 singles.Â
The Lakers continue their spring schedule with their trip to Florida starting next Monday. GVSU will face off against Marian, Valparaiso, Mount Saint Mary, Saint Francis (Ill.), Chestnut Hill, Niagara, and Saint Leo over the course of the four-day trip starting March 6 and continuing through March 10th.Â
