Women's Tennis Blanks Purdue Northwest with 9-0 Victory

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team (2-0 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) claimed a 9-0 GLIAC road victory over Purdue Northwest Sunday morning. The Lakers return to action Wednesday (Oct.4) at Ferris State, with first serve set for 3:30 p.m.
 
The Lakers were able to sweep Purdue Northwest in singles action with six lopsided victories. Madison Ballard claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1 single, while Alex Sweeney played from the No. 2 spot and won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). Continuing the dominance for the Lakers was Aimee Moccia at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-2), Abbey Perkins at No. 4 and Livia Christman at No. 5, won in straight sets and Nicole Heiniger claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
 
The success continued for Grand Valley State as they were able to sweep doubles action. Sweeney and Moccia played from the No. 1 pairing and claimed an 8-0 win, while Ballard and Heiniger played from the No. 2 pairing and tallied an 8-1 win. Perkins and Christman tallied an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
