#2 Grand Valley State will hit the road for the first time in the 2016 campaign with a GLIAC matchup at Walsh. The game will be played at North Canton Hoover High School in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. All of the action can be heard on the 14-station Grand Valley Sports Network with Steve Lloyd-Jones giving the play-by-play and Greg Johnson adding the color.

• This will be the first-ever meeting between Grand Valley State and Walsh.

#2 Grand Valley State will hit the road for the first time in 2016. The Lakers went 3-0 on a three-game home stand to open the season. GVSU defeated Tiffin 45-7, Lake Erie 55-7 and Northern Michigan 50-24. 

• Grand Valley State is in its 46th season of football and sport a 374-137-3 all-time record. GVSU's .730 winning percentage tops all Division II schools and is third all-time in all divisions behind Notre Dame (.733) and Michigan (.732).

• Grand Valley State remained #2 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' poll with 713 points after a 50-24 victory over Northern Michigan last Saturday. NW Missouri State is #1 with all 30 first place votes and 750 points.

• Grand Valley State has been ranked in the top five of 147 AFCA Division II Coaches' polls since 2001, including 102 weeks as the number one team in the country.

Grand Valley State jumped out to a 30-3 halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 50-24 GLIAC victory over Northern Michigan. As a team, the Lakers tallied a single-game total offense record with 741 yards (449 rushing/292 passing). Sophomore running back Marty Carter had a record-setting day, rushing for 298 yards and three TDs on 20 carries. Carter's total set the GVSU single-game record and was the 10th-best, single-game rushing total in GLIAC annals. Sophomore QB Bart Williams completed 15-of-25 passes for 292 yards and three TDs, while Matt Williams (6-118, 2 TD) and Brandon Bean (5-101, 1 TD) each broke the 100-yard receiving mark. Senior LB David Talley tallied a team-high nine tackles, including 1.5 QB sacks (-12) and 1.5 TFL (-12). Junior LB Collin Schlosser and senior LB Marquez Gollman each recorded eight tackles, while senior DE Sydney Omameh notched three tackles, two QB sacks (-9) and two TFL (-9). 

• Grand Valley State leads the GLIAC in scoring offense (50.0 ppg), rushing offense (357.0 ypg), total offense (618.0) and total defense (269.7 ypg). The Lakers are second in rushing defense (107.7), scoring defense (12.7) and third in pass offense (261.0). 

• The Lakers have outscored its first three opponents 51-0 in the first quarter and 42-3 in the second quarter. 

• Grand Valley State set a single-game, school-record for total offense vs. Northern Michigan with 741 yards (449 rushing/292 passing), breaking the previous record of 731 yards vs. Valparaiso on Oct. 28, 1989.

• The Lakers' 449 rushing yards is second all-time behind the 469-yard effort vs. Valparaiso on Oct. 28, 1989. 

• GVSU is 21-for-34 (62.0%) on 3rd down conversions, while the opposition is 9-for-37 (24.0%) 

• The Laker offense has been explosive the first three games of the season with 28 plays that have gone for 20 yards or more, including six by RB Marty Carter and five by Urston Smith.

• The starting Laker defense has yielded 339 yards on 26 drives and 114 plays in eight quarters of action...Opponents are averaging 2.85 yards per play and 13.0 yards per drive...The GVSU starters have yielded 17 points this season. 

• In three games the Laker defense has 12 QB sacks (-64) and 27 tackles for loss (-105). 

• QB Bart Williams has completed 38-of-61 passes for 721 yards and seven TDs this season, having played in just eight of 12 quarters...Williams is 8th in career passing yards at GVSU with 4,936 and in 18 career games played Williams has 53 TD passes (2.94 pg)...Bart ranks 6th in the country in pass efficiency rating (199.4), 28th in passing TDs (7) and 57th in total offense (247.7).

• Sophomore RB Marty Carter has toted the ball 38 times for 499 yards and six TDs in just seven quarters of football...Carter is averaging 166.3 yards per game and 13.1 yards per rush...Marty ranks 1st in the GLIAC and 4th in the country in yards per game (166.3) and 1st in the GLIAC and 20th in the country in all-purpose yards per game (167.0).

• Carter is coming off a record-setting performance with 298 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in a 50-24 victory over Northern Michigan in which he was named the D2Football.com National Offensive Player of the Week and the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week....Carter's rushing total was a GVSU single-game record and tied for the 10th-best, single-game total in GLIAC history...Former Laker Chris Robinson previously held the record with 261 yards on 33 carries at Findlay 2014.

• Carter rushed for 144 yards and two TDs on nine carries vs. Lake Erie in the first half and was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. His 79 yard TD run was the longest for a TD since Brent Lesniak went 80 yards for a TD in 2001 vs. Ashland. Mike Ratay had an 87 yard run at Northwood in 2013, but did not score...Carter touched the ball 10 times in the game for 146 all-purpose yards, averaging 16.0 yards per rush and 14.6 yards per touch. He went 79 yards for a TD on the first play of the game and then added a 30-yard touchdown run and a 2-yard TD reception in the first quarter.  

• Senior RB Terrell Dorsey ranks second on the squad in rushing with 33 carries for 206 yards and two TDs...Dorsey rushed for 51 yards and one TD on 12 carries vs. Northern Michigan...Rushed 15 times for 100 yards vs. Tiffin, marking the second and only time in his career that Dorsey reached the 100-yard mark...The other was in 2014 when Dorsey rushed for 115 yards versus the Tiffin Dragons. 

• Junior QB Ollie Ajami is third on the team in rushing with 156 yards on 19 carries...Second on the squad with four rushing TDs, a total that ranks fifth in the GLIAC...Ajami is averaging 8.2 yards per carry. 

 • Senior WR Matt Williams has nine catches for 177 yards and two TDs...Williams hauled in sixth catches for 118 yards and two TDs vs. Northern Michigan...Matt has 93 career catches for 1,715 receiving yards and 22 TDs in his career. 
• Junior WR Brandon Bean leads the team in receptions with 12 and is second in receiving yards with 222...Hauled in one TD pass and rushed for another...Caught five passes for 101 yards and a TD vs. Northern Michigan...Bean caught six passes for 112 yards in the opener vs. Tiffin...Brandon has 51 career receptions for 939 career receiving yards adn nine TDs.

• Sophomore WR Nick Dodson has seven receptions for 65 yards and one TD...Caught five passes for 43 yards and a TD in the opener vs. Tiffin. 

• Junior WR Urston Smith leads the team in receiving yards (245) and TD receptions with two..Smith leads the nation with a 30.6 yards per catch average...Caught three passes for 63 yards vs. Northern Michigan...Hauled in three passes for 124 yards and a TD versus Laker Erie...Pulled down two passes for 48 yards and a TD in opener vs. Tiffin.
