Women's Tennis Kyle Chestnut - Student Assistant

Lakers Down Saginaw Valley, Win 6-3

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team took down the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State at the Greater Midland Tennis Center by a score of 6-3. 

The Lakers went 4-2 in the singles competition with Alexa Sweeney (6-4, 6-2) in the No. 2 spot, Abby Perkins (6-4, 6-1) in the No. 3 spot, Aimee Moccia (6-3, 6-4) in the No. 4 spot, and Nicole Hieniger (7-5, 6-0) in the No. 6 spot all winning in straight sets. 

In doubles competition the duo of Madison Ballard and Alexa Sweeney defeated Shea Donahue and Ana Pico Garcia by a score of 8-2. Abby Perkins and Livia Christman also came out victorious in their matchup against Taylor McLaughlin and Madeline Miller, capturing the victory by a score of 8-2 as well. 

The Lakers now sport a record of 3-0 and will be back in action on Sunday, September 18 in a dual meet matchup against the Timberwolves of Northwood.
