The Grand Valley State track & field program hosted the Second To Last Chance Meet Friday at the Laker Track & Field Complex and turned in several outstanding performances. GVSU will host the Last Chance Meet Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
For the GVSU women,
Jordan Chester hit a provisional time in the 1500 meter run and crossed the finish line first with a time of 3:33.38, while
Rachel Bendewald finished second (4:38.50) and
Alison Work fifth (4:42.66).
Tiara Wiggins and
Breanna Luba both hit provisional times in the 100 meter hurdle prelims, posting times of 14:06 and 14:09, respectively.
Sarah Cullip dominated the 3000 meter steeplechase and crossed the finish line first in an NCAA provisional time of 10:56.30. The 4x100 relay team of Luba,
Alexis Duncan,
Beatriz Indurain and
Angela Ritter hit a provisional time of 46.48 and finished first.
Jessica O'Connell finished third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.46.
Jaime Roberts hit an automatic NCAA mark in the pole vault with a second place finish (13-2.25), while
Krista Nauseda hit a provisional mark with a vault of 12-4.00.
Alexis Duncan finished second and hit a provisional mark in the long jump (19-04.25).
Dajsha Avery finished third and hit a provisional mark in the discus with a throw of 155-08, while
Kyra Hull finished second and hit a provisional mark in the hammer throw (183-08).
Ethan Barnes won the 800 meter run and just missed an NCAA automatic mark with a time of 1:50.01.
Kevin Black crossed third in the 1500 meter run (3:57.55), followed by
Ricky Perez in fourth (3:57.61).
Sean Wells finished first and hit a provisional mark in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.17, while
Gary Hickman finished third (14.95).
TJ Burnett finished second and hit a provisional time of 52.45 in the 400 hurdles. The Lakers' 4x400 relay team of Burnett,
Lawson Bright-Mitchell, Wells and
Thomas Capers hit a provisional time of 3:11.57.
Hunter Weeks won the high jump (6-07.00), while
Chris Saikalis hit a provisional mark and finished second in the shot put (59.00.75).
Darien Thornton hit an automatic mark and finished first in the hammer, followed by
Mike Moon who finished fourth and hit a provisional mark (191-09).
Matt Lowe finished fourth in the Javelin (163-03) and
Blake Donson was fifth in the discus (161-07).
