Men's Tennis Wins 8-1 Against Michigan Tech

ALLENDALE, Mich. – 37th-ranked Grand Valley State men's tennis resumed conference play after concluding their out-of-conference schedule with an 8-1 win over Michigan Tech at the Premier Athletic Club in Grandville. The win gives GV a 10-6 record and a 3-1 mark in the conference.
 
The Lakers opened the match by sweeping the Huskies (4-8, 1-4 GLIAC) in doubles play. Zach Phillips/Alex van de Steenoven won match No. 1 8-6, Jack Heiniger/Sebastien Lescoulie took match No. 2 8-5, and match No. 3 was won by Andrew Bole/Nick Urban by the score of 8-3.
 
In singles competition, the Lakers took five of the six matches to win the team competition. Steenoven won match No. 1 (6-4, 6-2), Phillips won match No. 3 (6-3, 6-4), Heiniger took match No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), Urban won match No. 5 (6-1, 6-0), and Michael Kaye won match No. 6 (6-2, 6-2).
 
Grand Valley State hits the courts again on Sunday (Apr. 10) at 9:45 am when they take on Lake Superior State at the Premier Athletic Club in Grandville.
