Women's Tennis Stumbles Against Indiana Wesleyan

MARION, Ind. – #30 Grand Valley State women's tennis closed their road schedule with a setback in the form of a 5-4 loss to Indiana Wesleyan, the ninth-ranked team in the NAIA, at the Stutter Tennis Center. The loss brings GV's record to 22-6 on the year.
 
Grand Valley State earned one out of three possible points from doubles competition. The lone Laker duo to earn a team point was Abby Perkins/Livia Christman. The sophomore-freshman pairing won match No. 3 by a score of 8-6.
 
Trailing 2-1 entering singles play, Grand Valley State managed to split the six matches right down the middle with the Wildcats (26-6) to eventually fall to their opponents. Christman won match No. 3 in three sets (6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-0), while Samantha Schrepferman also won match No. 5 in three sets (6-3, 2-6, 6-2), and Katarina Samardzija took match No. 6 (7-5, 6-3).
 
Grand Valley State wraps up their regular season at home on Sunday (Apr. 17) when they welcome Aquinas College to the GVSU Tennis Courts at noon.
