ORLANDO Â - Grand Valley State men's tennis opened their Spring Break trip to the Sunshine State Monday afternoon will an 8-1 defeat to eighth-ranked Concordia-New York. The loss drops the 46th-ranked Lakers to 3-2 on the season, while #8 Concordia-New York improved to a 2-1 record.

The Lakers went 2-1 in doubles, preventing being shut out by the Clippers only after winning doubles match No. 2. The doubles pair of

Sebastien Lescoulie defeated their opponents 9-8 after winning the tiebreaker point 7-4 to take the team point. The No. 3 pairing of

Michael Kaye lost a tight 8-6 match, and

Alex van de Steenoven dropped the No. 1 match 8-1.

Grand Valley State was defeated in all six singles matches, with only Heiniger taking his opponent to the third set in the No. 4 match. The junior took it to a third set after winning the first set 7-5 and dropping the second 6-0, but he lost the tiebreaker 6-2 and dropped the match.
