rd-ranked Grand Valley State men's tennis edged out a 5-4 victory over 33
rd-ranked Southern Indiana at the Premier Athletic Club in Grandville. Grand Valley State improves to 3-1 with their upset win, while Southern Indiana sees their record drop to 2-2.

GVSU took the lead by winning two of three matches in doubles competition. No. 2

Nicholas Urban won the No. 3 match 8-6. Although they lost the No. 1 match,

Alex van de Steenoven battled until the end before losing the tiebreaker point 14-12 to drop the match 9-8.

By winning three of the six singles matches, the Lakers secured the upset victory over the Screaming Eagles. Steenoven, Phillips and Bole all won their matches to give GVSU the W. Steenoven won the first match 6-3, 6-4, while Phillips won match two 6-2, 6-2, and Bole secured the fifth and final team point by winning match five 6-4, 6-3.

Grand Valley State will now head to Florida for their Spring Break trip. The Lakers begin competition on March 7 in Orlando, Fla. against West Liberty at 8:15 am.
