ALLENDALE, Mich. – The winning streak for the Grand Valley State women's tennis teams reaches five as the Lakers came out on top by the score of 7-2 against Wayne State. GVSU improves to 5-0 overall and in the GLIAC, while the defending conference champions see their record drop to 4-1.
The Lakers pulled ahead early after going 2-1 in doubles competition against the Warriors.

Aimee Moccia won 8-6 in the No. 1 position, and

Livia Christman took the No. 3 match with a score of 8-4.
GVSU would go 5-1 in singles play to pull out the victory over the eight-time GLIAC champions. All five wins for GVSU came in two sets, with Christman (6-3, 7-6 [7-3]) needing a tiebreaker in the second set of her match to win the point. Also winning points for GVSU were
Alexa Sweeney (6-1, 6-2) in the No. 2 position, Moccia (6-4, 6-1) in the No. 3 position, Sumner (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 5 position, and
Samantha Schrepferman (6-4, 6-0) in the No. 6 position.
Grand Valley State concludes their four-match home stand on Saturday (Sept. 19) against GLIAC foe Hillsdale (3-1, 3-1 GLIAC) at the GVSU Tennis Courts at 12:30 p.m.
