ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley State women's tennis opened their 2015-16 home schedule with a 7-2 win over Saginaw Valley State. The Lakers improve to 3-0 overall and in the GLIAC, while the Cardinals' record drops to 1-2 overall and against conference opponents.

Livia Christman won the second point 8-2 from the No. 3 doubles position. While they did not win the No. 1 doubles match,

Rachel Sumner fought hard to make their competition earn the 9-8 victory.

While the Lakers lost their first singles match of the season after going perfect 12-for-12 against Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State, GVSU still pulled out five points to drive to victory.
Samantha Schrepferman notched her first dual match win as a Laker with a 6-3, 6-0 win from the No. 6 singles position. Perkins was the only Laker to lose her singles match (4-6, 6-1, 10-7), but she fought hard for the entire match and forced it into a tiebreaker set.

The Lakers will return to action on Sunday (Sept. 13) at 1 p.m. when they host Northwood for the second of four consecutive home matches.
