MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team will see their season continue after knocking off second-seeded Northwood, 5-1, at the Gerstacker Courts in Midland. The overall record for the Lakers improves to 17-5 on the year as they look to extend their season into the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The last time these teams met was in th semifinal of the 2015 GLIAC Tournament, where Grand Valley State last 5-4 to the eventual tournament champions.
Seventh-seeded GVSU jumped ahead by winning two of the three doubles flights against the Timberwolves.

Quinn Sylow took the No. 3 flight 8-4 while

Alex van de Steenoven took the No. 2 flight 8-5.
On the singles side, Grand Valley State win three matches all in straight sets to lock up the upset victory.
Bryan Hodges in the No. 5 spot picked up the first win (6-1, 6-2), then
Andrew Bole won the No 6 flight (6-2, 6-3), and
Francis Bertrand picked up the fifth and final team point in the No. 1 spot (6-4, 6-2) to give GVSU te upset win.
The next opponent for Grand Valley State will be Indianapolis (15-4), the No. 3 seed and the winner of the GLVC Tournament. The Greyhounds advanced to the Midwest Regional Tournament Semifinal after sweeping Missouri-St. Louis, 5-0. The two teams will meet on Sunday (May 3) at Gerstacker Courts at noon.
