#18 Lakers Set To Entertain #12 Huskies In A White Out At Lubbers Stadium

The #18 Grand Valley State Laker football team will host #12 Michigan Tech in a key GLIAC "White Out" contest that also pits a pair of nationally-ranked teams against each other as well. GVSU enters the game 5-1 overall and 4-1 in GLIAC action, while MTU enters the game 5-0 both overall and in GLIAC action.  White Out t-shirts can be purchased at the GVSU ticket office through Friday and then on Saturday as the GVSU baseball team will be selling the t-shirts in the tailgating lots or at the Louie's Lockerroom locations inside the stadium. The White Out t-shirts can be purchased for $5.

Tickets for this key GLIAC matchup of nationally-ranked teams can be purchased at the GVSU ticket office in the Fieldhouse, online at gvsutickets.com, via the phone at 616-331-3200 or on gameday at the football ticket office at Lubbers Stadium. 

 However, that is not the only top 20 matchup that you can watch on the GVSU campus Saturday. Grand Valley State athletics will provide fans a chance to watch #7 Michigan State and #12 Michigan play in lot C on a 16' x 9' HD videoboard beginning at 3:30 p.m. Fans can tailgate and watch this Big 10 contest before heading itno Lubbers Stadium to watch the Lakers and Huskies battle on the gridiron.

Grand Valley State leads the all-time series by a 24-4 margin. Michigan Tech defeated the Lakers by a 35-14 margin a year ago in Houghton, The Lakers have scored 40 or more points nine times in the last 13 games and 16 times overall versus the Huskies. However, three of he last five games games have been decided by eight points or fewer.

• Grand Valley State is in its 45th season of football and sport a 364-135-3 all-time record. GVSU's .731 winning percentage tops all Division II schools and is third all-time in all divisions behind Notre Dame (.733) and Michigan (.732).

• Grand Valley State has the second longest streak for consecutive games without being shutout at 284 games. The Lakers were last shutout by Ferris State (23-0) in 1992. Valdosta State's 287 games without being shutout is the longest streak.

• Grand Valley State trailed Wayne State 10-0 with just over three minutes left in the second quarter, but the Lakers ended the first half with a touchdown and scored four consective TDs to open the second half to take a 35-10 lead. The Lakers added a field goal and claimed a 35-17 GLIAC road win. QB Bart Williams completed 25-of-37 passes for 327 yards and four TDs. RB Kirk Spencer rushed for 88 yards and a TD, while WR Brandon Bean caught eight passes for 124 yards and a TD. Four different receivers caught TD passes, including freshman Nick Dodson who hauled in a 27 yard pass for his first career TD. LB Marquez Gollman led teh defense with nine tackles, while DE Matt Judon ladded eight tackles, 3.5 QB sacks and a forced fumble. Devin McKissic and Tre Walton each picked off pass for the Laker defense.
