HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team upped their record to 4-0 after a 7-2 victory over Hillsdale College earlier this afternoon on the road. The win keeps the Lakers atop the standings in the conference, while Hillsdale drops to 2-4 on the year.
GVSU swept the singles competition, with not a single Laker player dropping a set.
Kali Phillips and
Abby Perkins were the only two to have to go to a tie-breaker, with Phillips winning hers 2-0 and Perkins 3-0.
Grand Valley State had a more difficult time with the Chargers in doubles action, dropping all but one match to lose their third-straight sweep of the young season. The No. 3 doubles team of Phillips and
Rachel Sumner prevented the Hillsdale sweep of doubles competition, winning their match 8-0.
The Lakers return to the courts tomorrow when they square off with Wayne State at 10 a.m. in Detroit.
