2016: Placed 56th at Lewis Conference Crossover with a time of 26:07.29 ... finished 11th in the Greater Louisville Classic Blue race with a time of 25:36.1 ... placed 50th at the MSU Spartan Invitational with a time of 25:58.0.

2015: Finished 34th at the Lewis Conference Crossover with a time of 25:55.7 … ran the Greater Louisville Classic in a time of 25:53.9, placing 23rd among non-Division I runners and 45th overall in the Blue race … crossed the finish line at the 2015 MSU Spartan Invitation in 87th-place with a time of 26:58.5.

2014: Redshirted in 2014.

High School: Sam was a four-year letter winnter at Gull Lake High School. He was a four-time state qualifier in Cross Country, a two-time state qualifier in the 3200m run. He was All-State in Cross Country in 2014 and took second place in the 3200m run in 2014. 

High School bests: 5k - 16:08, 1600m - 4:28, 3200m - 9:38
