Laker Lacrosse Crushes SVSU 20-4

SAGINAW, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team put forth a dominant effort in a 20-4 victory at SVSU. The Lakers outscored the Cardinals 11-1 in the second half to move to 5-7 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in league play.
 
After each team tallied an early goal, Ella Boose put the Lakers up by two with back-to-back scores. The Cardinals got one back, but Ainsley Shilling and Jillian Bingman each scored before the end of the quarter to make it 5-2 Lakers. SVSU posted the first goal of the second quarter, but GVSU responded with the next four to take a 9-3 lead into the half, highlighted by the first two career goals from Sydney Grafton.
 
Saginaw Valley again got on the board to begin a quarter, but it was all Lakers the rest of the way, outscoring the Cardinals 11-1 in the second half. Shilling got the run going with two scores, and Boose tallied three in the half.
 
Ella Boose netted five goals to lead the offense, also adding six draw controls, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers. Ainsley Shilling had a hat trick and two assists. Scoring two goals each were Eliana LaMange, Sydney Grafton, Indira Marker, and Jillian Bingman. Kendra Swope, Gracie Bancroft, Delaney Smith, and Kayliegh Sandell all scored once. LaMange and Swope each had three assists, with Marker, Grafton, Bingman, and Bancroft all notching one. Isabella De La Cerda gathered six draw controls.
 
Quinn McElroy totaled two caused turnovers for a defense that held SVSU to only six shots on goal. Swope and Sarah Krause each had four groundballs, while Karleigh Rothe picked up three. Krause made two saves to pick up the win.

The Lakers stay on the road next week, traveling up north to NMU and CSP.
