#7 GVSU Wins Sunday Finale Vs. Davenport 8-2; Win Series 3-1

#7 Grand Valley State defeated Davenport, 8-2, in the Sunday series finale, winning the weekend series 3-1. GVSU 37-8 overall and 16-4 in GLIAC action will host Parkside in a four-game GLIAC series starting Thursday, April 30 at 3 p.m.

3B Caleb Estrada came through with a two-other, RBI single to center to score SS Evan Morrison who opened the inning with a walk. Davenport scored two runs on three hits in the top of the second, but the Lakers pushed across three runs in the bottom of the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to up the advantage to 8-2. 

C Noah Brandt walked, 2B Ayden VanEnkevort and LF Will Bowen followed with singles to load the bases in the fourth. RF Nolan Alvord plated Brandt and Morrison singled to right to score VanEnkevort and Bowen. 1B Jovan Gill and 3B Caleb Estrada walked and CF Jake Skaggs singled to load the bases in the fifth. Back-to-back walks to VanEnkevort and Bowen pushed two more runs across in the fifth. Morrison tripled to open the sixth inning, followed by a Josh Fleming walk. Gill plated Morrison with a sacrifice fly to center and Fleming scored on an Estrada groundout for the final run of the game. 

Morrison was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Estrada was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Bowen was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Eight Lakers recorded a hit and six provided an RBI. JJ Manion picked up the win on the mound, yielding four hits in four innings of work. Duncan McLaughlin pitched two scoreless innings and Ethan Houghtaling went the final frame without giving up a hit. Ty Uchman got the start on the mound, striking out four in two innings of work.
