#6 GVSU Takes Game Three At SVSU, 11-7

#6 Grand Valley State (32-7; 12-3) came back from a four-run deficit in the first inning to claim an 11-7 GLIAC road win at Saginaw Valley State Saturday afternoon. The Lakers and Cardinals will complete the four-game series Sunday with a single, 9-inning game beginning at 12 noon.

SVSU started fast on offense in the bottom of the first inning when the first four batters went single, double, home run, single. The fourth run was unearned, but the Lakers trailed 4-0 coming up for their second at bat.

The GVSU offense answered in the top of the second with eight runs on seven hits. CF Jake Skaggs doubled, followed by DH Josh Fleming's RBI double. LF Will Bowen walked and C Nolan Brandt was hit by a pitch. GVSU pulled off the triple steal with the bases loaded and SS Evan Morrison followed with an RBI double and Stimac walked to load the bases. 3B Caleb Estrada plated Brandt with a single and Skaggs recorded his second double of the inning, this one driving in two runs. Fleming plated the final two runs of the inning with a 2-RBI single and when the dust settled the Lakers put a snowman (8) on the scoreboard.

2B Ayden VanEnkevort opened the third with a double, Morrison walked and RF Ryan Stimac was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Skaggs reached on an error with two outs, scoring VanEnkevort and Morrison. GVSU added a run in the top of the fifth when Gill walked, advanced to third on a Skaggs single and scored on a Fleming single.

JJ Manion picked up the win on the mound in relief of starter Jackson Kees. Mannion tossed three scoreless innings, followed by a scoreless frame from Keagan Bobbitt

Fleming continued his torrid pace, going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI, while Skaggs was 3-for-5 with two double, two RBI and two runs scored. Morrison, Estrada and VanEnkevort each provide two hits.
