ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's golf team is set to begin their spring season at the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate, played down in Monroe, North Carolina. The Lakers will tee off on Monday with two rounds, then play one final round on Tuesday.

Playing for GVSU in the tournament are Lea Stotz, Charlotte Goersch, June Hsiao, Rachael Krieger, and Heida Rafnsdottir. Those five made up the lineup for majority of the fall season. Stotz, Goersch, Hsiao, and Krieger are all ranked inside the top 40 in the most recent Scoreboard individual rankings.
 
In the field this week, there are 10 top 25 teams, seven of which are in the top 10, including the entire top five. The Lakers are ranked fifth in the country, with host Wingate ranked first, followed by Dallas Baptist, Anderson, and Findlay.
 
This past fall, GVSU put together a dominant showing across six tournaments. The Lakers never finished outside of the top two spots, claiming three outright wins and another event where they were tied for first.
