RICHMOND, KY. – The Grand Valley State women's golf team had their tournament in Kentucky moved up a day due to weather, teeing off Sunday morning in the Findlay Spring Invitational. After the opening two rounds, GVSU is two shots back of the lead, with four golfers in the top 10.
Results
Host Findlay leads the field after the first day, shooting +33 over the opening two rounds. The Lakers are just two shots back of the Oilers, carding rounds of 303 and 308. In third is UMSL at +36, followed by Lincoln Memorial in fourth at +45. Fifth is Maryville, who shot +52 today.
The top golfer for GVSU after day one was
Rachael Krieger, who is tied for fourth. The senior carded rounds of 77 (+5) and 74 (+2), sinking five birdies to end at seven over. One stroke back of her is
Evelyn Park, sitting in a tie for sixth at eight over. She made three birdies in her two rounds of 76.
June Hsiao and
Lea Stotz are both in a tie for ninth, with a score of +10. Both golfers made three birdies in their rounds of 75 (+3) and 79 (+7).
Heida Rafnsdottir and
Skyler Tierney finished in a tie for 41
st, shooting +19. Rafnsdottir had rounds of 84 (+12) and 79, while Tierney made three birdies across rounds of 80 (+8) and 83 (+11).
The Lakers will play the final 18 holes tomorrow morning.
