ALLENDALE, Mich. — The Grand Valley State University women's wrestling team is set to travel to Coralville, Iowa for the first-ever women's wrestling NCAA National Championship, which will be held at Xtream Arena. Eight Lakers qualified for the national tournament.
To earn a spot at nationals, each wrestler had to place in the top three of their respective weight class at the regional tournament. A total of 52 teams will compete in Iowa for the championship title and 180 student-athletes will be competing.
The event will take place on March 6th and 7th and wrestling will begin at 11:00 am EST both days. The Grand Valley State women's wrestling team is currently seeded at the number four spot. Below is the lineup for the Lakers and their seeding is listed.
Katie Lange enters the championship with an 83–8 career record and the No. 1 seed for the Lakers in the 138 weight class. During the 2025–26 season, she holds a 20–1 record, including two falls, 12 tech falls, and four decisions over her opponents.
Sage Mortimer and Sabrina Nauss enter the championship ranked No. 2 in their respective weight classes. Mortimer holds a 93–7 career record and an 18–1 record during the 2025–26 season. She has recorded eight falls, six tech falls, and one decision this season.
Nauss holds a 46–7 career record as a sophomore and is 20–4 during the 2025–26 season in the 207-pound weight class. She has totaled 12 falls, six tech falls, and one decision this season.
"I couldn't be more excited for this program and the individuals representing it. The women have put in hours of work to be in a position to win matches and have fun. This is an incredible opportunity for them to meet the moment," said assistant coach Marlynee Deede.
The following Lakers will compete at the 2026 NCAA National Championship:
