#8 Grand Valley State (23-4, 3-0) swept a GLIAC doubleheader Saturday from Purdue Northwest, winning game one 11-5 and the nightcap 5-2. GVSU will attempt to sweep the four-game GLIAC set Sunday with a noon first pitch at the GVSU Baseball Field versus the Pride.
Game 1
GVSU broke the game open with seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the second innings. LF

Evan Morrison tallied an inside the park home run that plated Hoard and up the lead to 4-0. Senior CF

Jovan Gill followed with a bomb over the right field wall, notching his 100

Caleb Estrada singled, stole second and scored on a
Ryan Stimac single to left center.
Gill drove in Morrison with a double and Estrada hit a two-run shot to right that gave GVSU a 10-1 lead. Gill added a solo home run laser to right for the Lakers' final run.Â
JJ Manion (3-0) picked up the win on the mound, yielding five runs on eight hits in 5.0 innings.
Mike Morawski pitched a hitless sixth and
Edward Konow got the final two outs.Â
Gill was 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, while Morrison was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Estrada was the third Laker to collect three hits (3-for-4) and drove in two runs.Â

Purdue Northwest scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the second, but GVSU pushed across four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Estrada was hit by a pitch and freshman DH
Josh Fleming doubled Estrada to third. Thelen tallied a 2-run single and stole second, followed by an
Ayden VanEnkevort 2-run HR to right. Gill hit his third home run of the day, this a solo shot to right to give the Lakers a 5-2 lead.Â
Junior
Owen Avery (4-0) picked up the win on mound, yielding two unearned runs on five hits with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Avery's third strikeout of the day gave him 150 in his career. Senior
Ethan Houghtaling picked up his third save of the year with the three-inning save and allowed just two hits.Â
Thelen and VanEnkevort each drove in a pair of runs, while Fleming collected two hits.Â
