Senior
Joshua Page shattered Grand Valley's program record in the 400m at Ashland. With a finish at 46.57, the Tiffin transfer shaved his personal-best time in the event to become the newest program record holder at GVSU.
The next Laker PR of the day was recorded by
Peter Van Hulle in long jump. The sophomore landed at 7.09m (23-3.25) on his third jump, nearly one foot further than his previous best (6.95m (22-9.75)).
The preliminary 60m dash and hurdles heats saw three Lakers post personal-best times that landed them spots in the GVSU All-Time Top 10 Record Book.
Gianni Harris qualified for the finals with a finish at 7.64 in the 60m dash to tie for eighth all-time while
Dominic Downes and
Jackson Hayward finished at 8.00 (No. 4) and 8.10 (No. 10), respectively.
The finals brought more excitement. Downes lead off with a massive PR, moving up in the 60m hurdles rankings with a finish at 7.93. He is now tied for second in program history and ranks eighth in NCAA Division II. In the women's heat,
Destini Dorkins finished first at a personal-best 8.79, tying for number eight all-time and 41st in NCAA Division II.
Shelby Ulven threw a personal-best in weight throw, yet again. She maintained her spot as number six all-time with a 19.95m (65-6.6) throw on her third attempt.
Sebastian Tesch also broke his record in weight throw, something he has done at every meet this season. His 21.49m (70-6.25) mark not only ranks third in NCAA Division II but puts him closer to breaking the school record in the event, a record set in 2016.
Michael Griffey finally made his way into the record book in the event. Breaking 20m for the first time in his career, Griffey threw for 20.09m (65-11) to rank 10th in program history. The mark also ranks the redshirt sophomore 10th in NCAA Division II.
GVSU athletes swept first place in the 800m.
